Germany has always been a country of beer drinkers. In the dark period of the Middle Ages, the small town of Einbeck had 700 (seven hundred) breweries in its small territory. The thing is hardly believable, especially since there is only one left today. The famous Ainpockisch Bier even intoxicated more than one Munich resident and from 1533 onwards the Dukes of Bavaria made the golden Einbeckbier flow freely. Later, this beer would become the famous Bockbier. At the time, this beverage was brewed at home, which explains the number of small breweries. "Der beste Trank, den einer kennt, der wird Einbecker Bier genennt" (The best drink known is called Einbecker Bier), Martin Luther even declared at the Diet of Worms in 1521.
