Bischofroda is a municipality of the Hainich-Werratal administrative community in the Wartburgkreis district in Thuringia. It has about 700 inhabitants and is characterized by old half-timbered houses and farms.
Bischofroda is located in the middle valley section of the Lauterbach, about 10 km north of Eisenach. The town is a national park community and lies on the western edge of the Hainich National Park. The landscape of Bischofroda, shaped by fields and meadows, is bordered to the west by the Mihlaer Berg. In a small forest near Reitenberg, there is the Bischofroda quarry. The state road 2113 connects Bischofroda with the neighboring towns of Mihla and Berka before the Hainich.
