Niemetal is a municipality belonging to the Samtgemeinde Dransfeld in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony. About 1,500 inhabitants live in the municipality.
The municipality of Niemetal, located west of Dransfeld, lies between Bramwald in the west and Dransfeld City Forest in the east. All districts – Varlosen, Imbsen, Löwenhagen, and Ellershausen before the forest – are traversed by the Nieme. Niemetal is surrounded by the Münden Nature Park.
