Godesberg Villa Quarter is a district of the federal city of Bonn in the Bad Godesberg district. The villa quarter is part of the so-called Rhine Quarter.
The area of the second Godesberg villa quarter – located between Rüngsdorf, Plittersdorf, the left Rhine railway line, and the Rhine – which originated in the southern part of the village center in the mid-19th century with representative villas, was largely developed and built from 1888 onwards. Existing architectural focal points in the area were the villa of Mayor Carl August von Groote and the Protestant Erlöserkirche, both located on the southern edge of today's villa quarter, just within the territory of the Rüngsdorf district. The preparation of building line plans was initially carried out jointly with the communities of Plittersdorf and Rüngsdorf, which were incorporated into the Godesberg community only in 1899, and from 1903 based on a comprehensive concept by the Cologne city planner Josef Stübben. In particular, well-off retirees from the Cologne area built representative townhouses here, initially primarily villas and twin villas in the style of historicism, and later also in Art Nouveau. In the 1920s, additional buildings that can be attributed to Art Deco and sporadically to New Objectivity were added. The Catholic Herz-Jesu-Kirche was built in 1906 and expanded in 1936.
