The Wuppertal residential quarter Buchenhofen is one of seven quarters in the district of Elberfeld-West.
The 0.88 km² residential area, traversed by the Wupper River, is only sparsely populated with the village of Buchenhofen and the hamlet In der Rutenbeck, and is mostly occupied by the Wuppertal municipal wastewater treatment plant Buchenhofen operated by the Wupperverband. On the other side of the Wupper, there is the Rutenbeck wastewater treatment plant of Bayer HealthCare, and at the mouth of the Rutenbeck brook is the Rutenbeck youth farm, an experiential educational facility of the city of Wuppertal. Next to the youth farm is the well-preserved half-timbered hamlet of Rutenbeck,
