Möhringen is a district in the south of Stuttgart. It borders the Stuttgart districts of Vaihingen, Stuttgart-Süd, Degerloch, and Plieningen, as well as the town of Leinfelden-Echterdingen.
In early documents, between 1100 and 1300, the name Moringen is used for the first time, indicating Alemannic settlement. Initially, the Counts of Calw and the Counts Palatine of Tübingen, and from 1295 the Katharinenhospital Esslingen, owned Möhringen, until it finally came to Württemberg in 1803. In the Kingdom of Württemberg, founded in 1806, the municipality initially belonged to the Oberamt Esslingen, then from 1807 to the Oberamt Stuttgart, and temporarily to the district of Böblingen before World War II from 1938, until the incorporation into Stuttgart took place on April 1, 1942. Since then, Möhringen has been a district of Stuttgart.
