The Marschiertor was known as Miesierspforte until the 17th century and later also as Berseter Tor or Burtscheider Tor and was the southern city gate of the outer city walls of the German city of Aachen. The tower is one of the most powerful city gates in Western Europe. Construction began around 1257 and was likely completed shortly after 1300. It had a counterpart in the inner city walls with the Marschiermitteltor, also known as Burtscheider Mitteltor.
