The Sythen watermill in Haltern-Sythen used to belong to the Bishop of Münster. In 1331, Wessel von Lembeck exchanged several farms with his wife Elisabeth and their children Wessel, Adolf and Hillegund for the house of Sieten and the mill. The family belongs to the noble family of the Counts of Westerholt, whose successors, Carl Otto Graf von und zu Westerholt und Gysenberg, are still the owners of the mill today.
