The ferry Ditzum–Petkum is the only remaining ferry connection across the Unterems in Lower Saxony.
The ferry connects the small harbor town of Ditzum, a district of the municipality of Jemgum in Rheiderland, with Petkum, a district of the independent city of Emden in the northern part of East Friesland. The two places are located almost at the same geographical longitude on opposite banks of the Unterems below the Emspolder shortly before the river flows into the Dollart.
