The Schiller House Weimar is a museum operated by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar in the former residence of Friedrich Schiller in Weimar. In 1988, the new building of the Schiller Museum was constructed behind the residence, which is now used for special and temporary exhibitions of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar.
The house was originally built for a merchant in 1777 by Anton Georg Hauptmann. Already existing outbuildings were integrated as a rear house. The designation "Münze" for these older outbuildings is due to the fact that there had been an "old mint," a princely minting facility, on the property of the Schiller House.
