The Herchenhainer Höhe, at 733.1 m above sea level, is the fourth highest mountain in the Vogelsberg, Hesse, Germany. The Taufstein, as the highest elevation in the Vogelsberg, is located four kilometers to the northwest.
The Herchenhainer Höhe is situated in the municipality of Grebenhain, about four kilometers west of the town center and approximately 800 meters north-northeast of the village center of the district of Herchenhain. It represents the southernmost mountain of the Oberwald in the High Vogelsberg. The Rhine-Weser watershed runs over its summit. The southwest slopes belong to the source area of the Nidder, which flows into the Wetterau, while the northern and eastern slopes are part of the catchment area of the Fulda tributaries Schlitz and Lüder. The peak height and the northeastern slopes are densely forested, while the southwest slopes are used for agriculture, so a platform has been built near the forest edge close to the summit as a viewpoint. From here, the view extends under very good visibility conditions from the Dreistelzberg in the southeast over the Spessart in the south to the Odenwald and, in the southwest, even to the Donnersberg, which is 136 kilometers away. In the west, the view extends over the Wetterau to the Großer Feldberg and the Pferdskopf in the Taunus. To the northwest, the Dünsberg can be seen.
