The monastery is located on the Wied River in the district of Ehrenstein in the municipality of Asbach in the Neuwied district. The Mehrbach, which flows directly past the monastery, forms the boundary with the Altenkirchen district. The monastery, surrounded by wooded mountain ridges in a side valley of the Wied, is situated at an elevation of about 145 meters above sea level. The main town of Neustadt in the namesake municipality is located two kilometers to the west. In the immediate vicinity of the monastery lies the ruins of Ehrenstein Castle.
