The Witzen Cave is a natural karst cave near Muggendorf, a district of the Upper Franconian municipality of Wiesenttal in the Forchheim district of Bavaria.
Together with the Oswald Cave and the Wunders Cave, it is genetically part of a single system. It was only during the deepening of the Wiesent valley that the caves were separated from each other. The Witzen Cave was said to have been the "most terrifying and most dreadful" cave of the Franconian Switzerland. According to legend, sacrifices were offered to the Slavic light god Svantevit in the cave. It was from him that the Witzen Cave got its name. The south-facing entrance is about 9 meters wide and less than two meters high.
