The "Hohensyburg Ghost House" or "Hohensyburg Haunted House" referred to an empty and partially destroyed residential building located near the ruins of Hohensyburg and directly in Syburg on a large property. The building, dating back to the 19th century, had been uninhabited since the late 1970s, deteriorated over time, and was eventually demolished in 2009. It was considered particularly in internet forums in the 1990s and 2000s as "one of the most famous ghost and haunted houses in North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany" and was often visited, especially on Halloween, by teenagers and young adults as a "horror and cult location" for illegal night gatherings.
