The Eckbauerbahn is a detachable monocable gondola lift that runs from the Olympic Ski Stadium to the Eckbauer in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The first cable car was taken out of service on 7 October 2018 and will be replaced by a new lift.
The small gondola lift built by Pohlig-Heckel-Bleichert on behalf of-Bahn AG and put into operation on 23 December 1956 after 30 years of planning had an inclined length of 2140 m. From the valley station at 730 m above sea level, it overcame a 500 m difference in altitude to the mountain station at 1230 m above sea level. The 75 semi-open 2-seater gondolas traveled at a speed of 2.5 m/s at a low height over 27 cable car supports. The cable car reached a maximum transport capacity of 300 people per hour. The journey time was 14 minutes. The hoisting rope had a diameter of 27 mm. The drive was located in the top station, the clamping weight in the valley station.
