The Panzergrenadier Brigade 22 "Oberland" was a brigade of the 1st Mountain Division of the Bundeswehr Army, initially stationed in Mittenwald and from 1981 in Murnau. Its deployment area was Upper Bavaria. The brigade was dissolved in 1993.
Starting on July 19, 1956, the first elements of the mountain infantry battalions 104 and 114 came together in Mittenwald. The personnel consisted of former members of the mountain troops of the Wehrmacht as well as active members of the Federal Border Guard. They formed the basis of the Mountain Brigade 104 with about 1,000 men. In 1957, the Mountain Combat Group B8 was formed from this. It initially consisted of the headquarters company, the mountain infantry battalions 8 and 18, the mountain armored reconnaissance company 8, the mountain signal company 8, and the mountain pack animal company 8.
