At the castle ruins of Spies, there was a former high medieval noble castle above the village of Spies in the municipality of Betzenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth. Only a few wall remains testify to it.
The former hill castle is located in the northern Franconian Jura on the 616.4 m above sea level high summit of the free-standing conical Spieser Schlossberg, whose peak lies about 50 meters above the village. The castle ruin is situated immediately north of the village of Spies and about five kilometers south of Betzenstein.
