Wetzendorf is a village in the district of Burgenlandkreis on the right bank of the Unstrut River. It stretches along the old wine route. Since 1957, Wetzendorf has been a district of the municipality of Karsdorf.
The village, which originated as a street village along the old wine route, was first mentioned in a document in 1061 as Widesendorp, i.e. village of a Widiso. Wetzendorf belonged to the lordship of Wiehe and with it passed in 1539 to the Lords of Werthern on Beichlingen. In the village there was a manor that was under the control of the owners of Nebra.
