The Horstmarer See is a lake of about nine hectares located in the Seepark Lünen in the Lünen district of Horstmar. It is directly adjacent to the Datteln-Hamm Canal and is situated on the grounds of the former State Garden Show Lünen.
Normally, it is not fed by the Datteln-Hamm Canal; however, there is an access point that can be opened in case of significant water loss, although this has never been necessary in the past.
