The Höchsten, at 837.8 m above sea level (NHN), is the highest elevation in Upper Swabia and the Linzgau, as well as the highest elevation not belonging to the Swabian Jura in the district of Sigmaringen, the highest in the Bodenseekreis, and the highest between the Hegau volcanoes and the Allgäu.
The Höchsten is located on the border between the Bodenseekreis, with the municipality of Deggenhausertal to the south, and the district of Sigmaringen, with the municipality of Illmensee to the north. The municipality of Wilhelmsdorf in the district of Ravensburg also has portions of the mountain. On the ridge, there are the village of Glashütten, which belongs to Illmensee, and the hamlet of Rubacker, which belongs to Deggenhausertal.
