The Rabeninselbrücke is located in Halle, spans the Saale south of the Böllberg lock and connects the districts of Südstadt and Gesundbrunnen with Rabeninsel, one of the city's preferred local recreation areas. The bridge was one of the external projects of the World Expo 2000.
The Rabeninselbrücke is a cable-stayed bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. It is supported by a single 38 m high, sloping pylon on the city side of the Saale. The pylon tapers to a point and is mounted on the foot in a ball joint. From the city side, the bridge can be entered at ground level via two entrances. Constructively, this was achieved by dividing the superstructure in front of the pylon and leading the parts to the right and left of the pylons to the connection to Böllberger Weg. Between the city-side shore and the shore of Raven Island, the difference in height is about 8 m. In order to overcome this, an approx. 80 m long counter-rotating ramp was built on the island side.
