The area of the Herzog-Albrecht barracks in Münsingen was used for military purposes with interruptions from 1915 until March 2004. In 2004, the barrack buildings were demolished.
In 1915, the Württemberg War Ministry decided to build a second barracks camp for the training grounds that had been established 20 years earlier. The Old Camp is located in today's district of Münsingen.
