The Haus Assen is a German castle in the "Lippe Renaissance" style. It is located in Lippborg, a village in the municipality of Lippetal in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
A first fortified castle existed at least since the eleventh century under the name of "Borch to Assen". It was given by Henry II to the Abbey of Saints Peter and Paul in Paderborn in 1023, and then became a fief of Lord Röttger von Ketteler. The land was divided in 1455. The lords von Ketteler commissioned the construction of a new castle from Laurent de Brachum to the south of the castle. This new building was renamed "Haus Assen". Goswin von Ketteler lived in the new castle and his brother in the old one. Subsequently, the two buildings were reunited. The lands were also reunited when Konrad von Ketteler married his cousin Odile von Ketteler.
