The Roman Baths in Badenweiler are the ruins of the Roman baths in Badenweiler, Germany. They are one of the oldest structures in Baden-Württemberg and one of the best-preserved baths north of the Alps.
Between 15 BC and 150 AD, the Romans gradually annexed the area of present-day Southwest Germany into their empire. They brought with them a highly developed bathing culture, and from hot springs already used by the Celts, various types of spa resorts emerged. The gods of the springs guaranteed the success of a cure. The Roman bath in Badenweiler was dedicated to the goddess of the Black Forest, Diana Abnoba.
