The Herbartgymnasium Oldenburg is a general education gymnasium in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony.
The school was founded in 1844 and has had various names over time: Municipal Higher Citizen School, State Upper Real School, State Secondary School, Hindenburg School, and since August 1, 1988, Herbartgymnasium, named after the educator and philosopher Johann Friedrich Herbart, who advocated for a realistic education as an alternative to the humanistic approach.
