The Madel is a nearly ten-kilometer long, orographically right tributary of the Werra in Thuringia, Germany.
The sources of the Madel are located in the city area of Eisenach, on the Gramberg, just northwest of the district of Neukirchen. Initially, the source stream flows westwards into the Trößelsgrund. Here was the settlement of Alt-Madelungen - now a deserted area. After another two kilometers, the edge of the Eisenach district of Madelungen is reached, where the river turns southwest, then crosses a wetland between Madelungen and Krauthausen, where the Etzenbach, coming from the 364 m high Moseberg, flows in from the left.
