The Bergholz station was a transfer station established as a tower station in 1957 on the Berlin outer ring, south of Potsdam. Operationally, despite its construction, it was classified as a stop.
It was created in 1956 at the intersection of the Berlin–Blankenheim railway line with the outer ring and provided a transfer opportunity for travelers from Michendorf, Wilhelmshorst, Rehbrücke, and Potsdam-Drewitz to the trains referred to as Sputnik, especially to East Berlin. A pedestrian bridge allowed the transition between the upper side platforms on the outer ring and the lower side platforms on the Wetzlar railway.
