The Bödefeld Telecommunications Tower, also known as the Hochsauerland/Schmallenberg Telecommunications Tower, the Hunau Telecommunications Tower or the Hunau Tower, is a 173 m high telecommunications tower of the German Radio Tower on the Hunau in the Hochsauerland district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The tower is located in the urban area of Schmallenberg in the district of Oberkirchen a few meters southeast of the border with the district of Gellinghausen - about 1.3 km southwest of the Hunau summit . It was built at an altitude of 793.3 m; at 966.3 m, its peak is the highest – artificially created – point in the Sauerland. It is a reinforced concrete type tower, which went into operation on 18 May 1968 after a construction period of 20 months. Directly next to the grounds of the tower is the Hunau - Langer Rücken - Heidberg nature reserve to the east.
