The Künstlerhaus Wiedenbrück was built around 1904 by the cabinetmakers Bernhard Diedrichs and Franz Knoche in the East Westphalian town of Rheda-Wiedenbrück on Rietberger Straße as a residential building. Behind the house was the workshop of the cabinetmakers. With its richly decorated façade, the residential building was the figurehead of the workshop, which specialized in sacred art. Since the builders had become heavily indebted with the construction of the house, the house and workshop had to be sold at the beginning of the First World War. Over the years, it has served various purposes. In the 1920s it was a production facility of the furniture company Dreier Brothers, during the National Socialist era part of it served as a meeting place and from 1947 war refugees lived there. Later, the buildings were bought by the building contractor Eustermann, who housed his foreign workers there until the 1970s. After that, it stood empty for many years until it was bought in 1999 by an investor who had the front part of the Künstlerhaus renovated from 2002 to about 2005 and thus made it usable again as a residential building. After the renovation from 2005 to 2008, the workshop building now houses the Wiedenbrück School Museum.
On the occasion of the restoration of the façade, the house was named Monument of the Month in Westphalia-Lippe by the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe in April 2006.
