The Hase is a 193 km long river in northwestern Germany.
The Hase rises in the Teutoburg Forest and flows through Lower Saxony to eventually flow into the Ems at Meppen.
A number of historic cities have sprung up along the Hase, including Osnabrück, Melle, Meppen and Bramsche. At Melle there is a bifurcation. In 1971, the Alfsee was built near Alfhausen as a flood basin for the Hase. In the early nineties of the twentieth century, beavers from the Elbe were released near Bokeloh. In 2001 there were more than 50 individuals living around the Hase.
