The Katschhof is a centrally located public square in the city of Aachen. The name is derived from Kaxhoff, later Kackshoff or Katzhoff, and is thus an indication of the location of the former pillory. Between 1847 and 1902, the Katschhof was named Chorusplatz in honor of Aachen's mayor Gerhard Chorus, after which the square regained its old historical name and the adjoining street retained the name Ritter-Chorus-Straße. Due to its location between the Aachen Cathedral and the Aachen Town Hall, as well as the buildings modeled after a medieval plan, it exudes a special atmosphere. Major events such as concerts, weekly markets, festivals, and the Aachen Christmas Market take place here.
