Meinholz is a small settlement of five farmsteads located directly on the border between the city of Braunschweig and the district of Gifhorn on the northern - Gifhorn - side. Meinholz belongs to the municipality of Meine and the joint municipality of Papenteich.
Today's "Weghaus Meinholz" of the Lüters family was once the customs and border station, where tolls used to be collected from travellers on the former military road, today's north-south running B 4. At the same time, Meinholz lies immediately west of the Brunswick–Wieren railway. This crosses the Mittelland Canal about 200 metres south of Meinholz on a bridge that was renovated in the course of track work in 2007.
