The Kleine Wümme is a left tributary of the Wümme in Bremen. Its course has been altered since the 12th century due to the agricultural development of the Hollerland. With the residential development of Vahr in the 20th century, parts of its course were incorporated into the sewer system. In other locations, new ditches were created. The unchanged section of the Kleine Wümme between Horn-Lehe and the Wümme would have been a tidal water body without the sluices dating back to the 13th century in the Wümmedeich. Today, the Bremen Dike Association regulates water levels and flows on the right bank of the Weser.
