The Evangelical Lutheran Castle Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Salzgitter-Salder, also known as the Castle Church of Salder, was built between 1713 and 1717 by the Hereditary Prince of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, August Wilhelm, according to the plans of the Brunswick fortress construction director Völcker on the site of a predecessor church.
The first mention of a priest and thus indirectly of a church in Salder comes from the end of the 13th century, when a "parson" named Henricus is mentioned, who was also the provost of Steterburg Abbey.
