Christoph 26 is a rescue helicopter of the ADAC stationed at the Nordwest Hospital Sanderbusch.
The air rescue center at the Nordwest Hospital was put into operation on November 15, 1979, initially using an Alouette III, which was replaced by a Bell 206 Long Ranger in 1982. After the company's insolvency, the ADAC took over the station on February 1, 1983. From this point on, a BO 105 was in operation, but this type was already replaced by a BK 117 in 1985, which was retired in December 2015 after 30 years. In 1985, the landing site was also expanded to include a hangar and a dedicated fueling station, and later Sanderbusch became the first German air rescue center to operate at night.
