The TerraZoo Rheinberg was originally built in 1996 in the basement of the Schacht IV mine in Moers. However, due to the zoologically unsuitable conditions in the damp cellar with proximity to the disco and gym, a move to a new building in the Rheinberg district of Winterswick took place after five years. For example, the exhibition has been expanded to include Nile crocodiles from Duisburg Zoo and an outdoor enclosure with reptiles from temperate latitudes.
