The Duisburg Ruhr lock at the Duisburg weir is the last lock of the Ruhr before it flows into the Rhine at kilometre 2.5.
Parallel to it is the Meiderich lock in the Rhine-Herne Canal. Both locks are only single and together handle traffic from the RHK, the Ruhr and the Ruhr Shipping Canal to and from the Rhine. This works because a few hundred metres upstream behind the two locks of the RHK and the Ruhr are connected without a barrage.
