The Prosper Park in Bottrop is an urban green space located on the site of the former Prosper III coal mine.
The eleven-hectare park, designed by landscape architects Schmelzer and Bezzenberger from Stuttgart, stretches along Hugo-Reckmann-Straße in the west and is curved by Friedrich-Bitter-Weg in the east. The park, the "Prosper III" commercial area, and the surrounding residential development with a small retail center were created as the "Prosper Quarter" as part of the International Building Exhibition Emscherpark in the late 1990s. Within the framework of the IBA, the project was considered a fast-tracker and was completed as one of the first reclamation and development measures.
