Ahaus Castle is a castle in the municipality of Ahaus, Germany. An earlier castle built on this site had already been bought in 1406 by Count Otto IV of Hoya, who was also Prince-Bishop of Münster at the time. It was replaced by the current castle complex with a large outer bailey by order of Münster Prince-Bishop Frederick Christian of Plettenberg in the period 1688-1695. During the Seven Years' War, the castle was damaged. It was then restored under the supervision of the famous Baroque architect Johann Conrad Schlaun; The middle part of the main building was created in its current form after that renovation. From 1803 to 1819 it was for some time the residence of members of the noble family Salm-Kyrburg ).
From 1819 until shortly before the Second World War, the castle housed the tobacco processing factory of the Oldenkott company; Part of the castle served as a director's residence.
In March 1945, the building burned down completely after a bomb attack. After the Second World War, the castle was carefully rebuilt by order of the government. Since the autumn of 1952, it has been one of the locations of the Technische Akademie Ahaus, a school for secondary and higher vocational education, and a technical training institute for the retraining of the unemployed.
