The Science Park Gelsenkirchen is a project of the International Building Exhibition Emscher-Park located at Munscheidstraße 14 in Gelsenkirchen. Under the motto "Working in the Park," a glass building approximately 300 meters long has been constructed on the site of the former Gelsenkirchen casting steel and iron works Munscheid & Co in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf, which houses several office segments. Immediately adjacent to the building is a small park with a lake, which has quickly developed into a popular local recreational destination. On the roof of the building is a solar power plant. A second construction phase originally planned, as well as the addition of a hall for conferences, were not carried out.
