Like no other manor in the area of today's municipality of Weilerswist, Burg Bodenheim shapes the townscape of the same name. It has retained its picturesque and prominent location in the Erftaue and appears very ancient, which is primarily due to its irregularly angular structure and the absence of landscaped gardens. In this respect, Bodenheim is consistent with medieval feudal tradition, according to which a noble manor was meant to be freely situated in the landscape.
