Asciburgium was a Roman garrison town in Asberg, Germany. Five different construction phases of the castellum have been recovered. A burgus, vicus, harbour and burial grounds have also been found.
The first fortress was built in 12/11 BC by General Drusus. This fort had an area of approximately 1.5 ha. Around the beginning of the Common Era, the fort was replaced by a new fort with a stronger wall and an area of approximately 1.7 ha. This fortress was further fortified in 9 AD.
