The Rheinhausen Iron and Steel Plant is a former steel complex located in the Duisburg area of the Ruhr in Germany. Founded in 1897 by Friedrich Alfred Krupp, it was considered the largest factory in Europe on the eve of the First World War.
Hard hit by the crisis affecting the sector, the factory was restructured during the 1980s, before closing in 1993. The infrastructure was dismantled in the following years. In 1993, the logport of the Duisburg port complex occupied the land freed up by the disappearance of the factory.
