The Jägerhäuschen in the Kottenforst near Bonn is a shelter built around 1730 to 1740 and was a station for the par force hunts of the Cologne Elector Clemens August. It is a listed building.
In order to be able to carry out the hunt on horseback from there, Clemens August built Herzogsfreude Castle from 1754 to 1756, which stood on the site of today's Bonn district of Röttgen, and had a network of paths built through the Kottenforst, whose paths converge in a star shape at the former location of the castle in Bonn-Röttgen. The hunter's cottage is located at the intersection of two such paths and served as a relay station for hunting. Here the horses could be changed; the hunter's cottage therefore contained a larger horse stable on the right side of the building in addition to the small lounge for the hunting helpers on the left side.
