The Katzenlochbach Valley is a worthy protected biotope in the nature reserve "Kottenforst", which extends into the southwest of Bonn.
Rare plants and the only untouched flowing water in Bonn can be found in this landscape incision. The Katzenlochbach Valley is a long green strip within the city limits of Bonn. With a length of about 7 km and a width of about 2.6 km, it covers an area of approximately 185 hectares. Of this, 53 hectares belong to the city of Bonn, 20 hectares to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the remaining 112 hectares are privately owned. The valley borders directly on the residential development of the districts of Ückesdorf, Röttgen, Ippendorf, and Lengsdorf.
