Viehbach/Rietrather Bach

In 1555 the stream was referred to as "Vehebach" and in 1805 also as "Wybach".

The headwaters of the stream lie at about 200 m above sea level, in a wetland in Solingen-Obengönrath, west on the Viebachtalstraße, the L141n, which is named after it. On the first 6.8 km in Solingen, he crosses under the expressway named after him several times from right to left and vice versa. Near the former Krüdersheider mill, today only a residential building, it reaches the city limits of Langenfeld at the coordinates 51° 8′ 51" N, 6° 59′ 13" E. In Düsseldorf near Garath Castle, at 42 m above sea level, the Viehbach/Riethrather Bach flows into the Garather Mühlenbach. He has covered a distance of about 13.2 km to get there. From here it is about 7.5 km until it reaches the Garather Mühlenbach near Urdenbach and 6°51′37"E; 51°9′10"N flows into the Rhine at 32 m above sea level. On this way, they also take up the Langforter-Galkhauser Bach including the Burbach coming from Solingen, the Baumberger Graben and the Horster Flutgraben, an outflow of the Itterbach, and become the Urdenbacher Altrhein.
