The company Kronprinz, since 2018 Accuride Wheels Solingen GmbH, based in Solingen, is a manufacturer of steel wheels for cars, trucks, tractors, and construction machinery.
The company was founded on July 27, 1897, by Rudolf Kronenberg and Carl Prinz under the name Kronprinz AG for bicycle parts in Ohligs, which has been a district of Solingen since 1929, with "Kronprinz" chosen as a combination of both family names. They produced welded and seamless precision tubes and rims for bicycles and cars. In 1903, the company patented an automobile steel wheel with a detachable rim. In 1907, Carl Prinz passed away. In 1930, the production of steel disc wheels for passenger cars began. In 1934, Rudolf Kronenberg, the second co-founder of the company, died. Since there were no heirs, Mannesmann took over the company.
