The municipal Essen Southwest Cemetery is located in the western part of the city of Essen in the district of Fulerum. It is the second largest burial site in the city in terms of area after the Park Cemetery. Here, 2,878 victims of both world wars are also buried.
In the cemetery, which today covers 37.27 hectares, far more people are buried with around 33,000 graves than there are residents in Fulerum.
