The Siebengebirgsmuseum is a regional museum and specialist museum for Rhine Romanticism in Königswinter, a town in the Rhein-Sieg district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
In 1927, the Working Group for the Care of the Homeland founded a local history collection, which led to the opening of a museum in 1939 after the purchase of a building in 1934. During World War II, the museum was closed and reopened in 1956. In 1980 and 1994, the exhibition area was expanded for the extensive collections on the geology, history and culture of the Siebengebirge. From January 2010 to September 2011, the museum underwent a structural expansion and redesign of the permanent exhibition as part of the Regionale 2010. Thanks to the long-term cooperation with the private Bonn collection RheinRomantik, this topic has since become a markedly upgraded focus of the museum's work.
