The Löwenherz mine is a former iron mine of the Bensberger ore district in Forsbach. The discovery site was located in the Königsforst west of the former Forsbach train station.
On December 12, 1853, Friedrich Hermanni applied for a claim on iron ores under the name Rothenburg for a deposit west of the so-called Kalkweg in the Königsforst. For unknown reasons, a second claim followed on January 25, 1854. The granting took place under the name Löwenherz on August 21, 1856, for iron ores. No further information is available regarding operational activities. On September 14, 1892, the Löwenherz association is mentioned as the owner.
